Now this is a way researchers and developers should be treated!
Other thoughts that pops to my mind…
Korean CE companies like Samsung and LG should loosen up their Ads and lose the corporate company feel. Perhaps a suggestion is to make advertisements that shine light on the individual employees. There are plenty of ‘star researcher and developers’ for other companies, yet there seem to be none for Samsung and LG.
Flash Version of 'Tower Defense'
If you either possess a smartphone or a PDA, and perhaps you enjoy occasional mobile game on your phone, you would probably have heard the game called ‘Tower Defense’ a.k.a. ‘Defense’ or ‘TD’.
It’s quite an addictive game where the goal is to create a tower in order to safely block from enemy penetration. There are several types of tower with each having different defense mechanism, which makes all the game more strategic.
There are numerous games which resemble the Tower Defense and probably the most famous one challenging the Tower Defense’s reputation would be the ‘Tower Traps’. There also desktop versions and flash-based web versions as well. It is not surprising that an iPhone version has appeared in the Apple Application Store.
Anyway, the flash version is a free version. The following are the links to the flash version.

I have seen the small version of the PC Server Icon perhaps a thousand times and it never occurred to me to see the large size version. And today at library, someone tried to log on to my computer, led me to check up on the intruder by clicking on ‘Get Info’.
and what do I get? a PC icon with a blue screen on it. Perhaps it’s an easter egg. : )

Politics is a topic I try to avoid on my blog as much as possible. Despite the complexity and controversies that most political issues have, we often make the mistake handling it too light or too seriously, in most case asserting one-sided viewpoints. Still, there’s no harm in having few minutes of laugh with politics. : )
This clip from Saturday Night Live is a must see and it is simply hilarious. Tina Fey does a great job imitating Palin, especially the Alaskan accent in which she speaks. If you are not familiar with Tina, I personally recommend you watch ’30 Rock’.
P.S. Interestingly, Obama, Hillary and McCain has actually been on SNL…

디지털 치매
오랫만에 올라가는 포스팅. ^_^
디지털 치매(Digital Dementia)라는 신조어가 생겼다.
휴대폰, 컴퓨터, PDA, 등 수많은 디지털 기기에 의존하고 있는 나머지, 기억력과 계산 능력이 크게 떨어진다데가 과다한 정보에 지나치게 노출 되어 건망증 증세가 심해진 상태를 의미한다고 한다.
본인의 경우엔 컴퓨터을 사용하면서 분명 편리해점은 많지만, 그 만큼 머리를 덜 쓰게된다는 점에는 크게 공감한다.
예를 들어, 컴퓨터 상에서 글을 쓰면, 위 아래 자르고 붙이고가 가능하다. 연필을 가지고 쓸 때는 차분히 생각하고 한 문장 한 문장에 신경을 쓰게되지만, 컴퓨터 상에서는 생각나는데로 써놓고 짜집기 하는 경우가 많다. 문단 통채로 순서를 바꾸는 것도 단 두번의 핫키로 가능해지기 때문이다.
또한, 대부분의 사람들은 경험해보았을 것이다. 단순히 검색을 한다고 검색엔진 사이트에 들어간 뒤, 자신도 모르게 다른 내용을 브라우징을 하고 있는 것을 말이다. 시간도 잘 간다. 검색엔진에서 하이퍼링크를 따라 돌아다니고 있으면 꼭 멍하니 TV를 보고 있는 것과 비슷하다. 산만하고 정신없이 돌아다니다보면 어느새 자신이 집중력을 잃었다는 것을 깨닫게 된다.
두뇌 훈련 게임
아이러니하게도 이런 시점에서 사람들은 잃어버린 기억력과 집중력을 또다시 디지털 기기에서 찾으려고 하고 있다.
일본에서 2006년 최고로 히트친 상품 1위는 바로 ‘두뇌 훈련 게임’이라고 한다.
2위가 뇌게임으로 히트를 친 게임기 NDSL이라고 하니, ‘두뇌 훈련 게임’의 인기는 분명 대단했다고 볼 수 있다.
PMP, MP3, 게임기와 같은 개인용 소형 단말기들이 보편화되고 있는 시점에서 조금이라도 건강에 관련된 상품이면 히트를 치는 웰빙열풍의 흐름을 캐치한게 아닐까란 생각이 든다.

Dice Wars
오랫만에 상당히 중독성 있는 Flash 보드 게임에 빠져버렸다. 마지막으로 즐긴 Flash 게임은 Zoo Keeper였다. 단순히 플래쉬로 만들어졌던 Zoo Keeper는 상업적으로도 성공을 해서, 플레이스테이션 2용으로도 발매 되었다.
새로운 게임은 주사위를 이용한 보드 게임! 이름하야 Dice Wars 다.
우리 모두 즐겨보아요!~
몇 번 해보면 룰이 이해가 되겠지만, 좀 더 편리한 게임을 위해 잠시 설명하자면…
- 옆 땅과 전쟁할 땐 현재 공격하는 땅의 주사위 갯수만큼 던진다. (당연히 주사위가 많으면 이길 가능성이 높다.)
- 승리를 하고 나면 한 개의 주사위를 제외하고 모두 이동한다. 주사위를 이동하는 방법은 전쟁밖에 없다.
- 한 턴마다 늘어나는 주사위의 숫자는 아래 나오는데 이는 현재 갖고 있는 땅에 대해서 가장 큰 무리들의 땅 갯수다. 총 땅이 8개라도 3:3:2로 나뉘어 있다면 늘어나는 주사위 숫자는 3이다.
- 한 턴마다 늘어나는 주사위는 임의적으로 분포된다.
- 한 땅은 최대 8개의 주사위를 가질 수 있다.
- 한 턴마다 늘어나는 주사위를 자신의 땅에 더이상 배분할 수 없을 때 주사위는 재고로 쌓여 다른 턴에 자리가 남는 곳에 배분된다.
